"Tranquility Of Running Water" - There are several natural looking streams around the Wildflower Center. This was one of my favorites and I got chance to try a slower shutter speed (1/10 sec)

"Playing With Butterflies" - I darkened the outer areas of this photo to create more of a "deep in the forest" effect.

The exhibit of 38 sculptures in ceramic, copper, wood and other media by members of the Texas Society of Sculptors runs from March 3 to May 31. "A Fleeting Siren in The Wildflowers" - (I had to brush up on my Greek mythology to learn about the "flowery" island)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Greek mythology, the Sirens (Greek singular: Σειρήν Seirēn; Greek plural: Σειρῆνες Seirēnes) were three dangerous bird-women, portrayed as seductresses, who lived on an island called Sirenum scopuli. In some later, rationalized traditions the literal geography of the "flowery" island of Anthemoessa, or Anthemusa,[1] is fixed: sometimes on Cape Pelorum and at others in the Sirenusian islands near Paestum or in Capreae.[2] All locations were surrounded by cliffs and rocks. Sailors who sailed near were compelled by the Sirens' enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast.

May 8, 2009 - "A Distant Scene" - My wife captured these wonderfully textured arches funneling to a mini scene in the distance. For more of her photos from our Austin trip last week go to this gallery

May 6, 2009 - "Wildflower Center Structure" - In keeping with the Texas historical architecture theme of the center, this photo includes the galvanized steel administrative building and the stone observation tower. Also notice, how an aqueduct collects rain water from the observation tower.
