January 23, 2012 - "Ponder"
This is one of two bank buildings that we photographed last week on our North Texas drive-about. We learned some history about the bank that we did not know.
In the Bonnie and Clyde movie - "This turn-of-the-century bank building was used in the scene where Bonnie (Faye Dunaway) and Clyde (Warren Beatty) attempt their first bank robbery. When Clyde bursts through the door, the lonely teller informs him that the bank has failed and that there is no money" -

And then from Wikipedia - "Local legend holds that Bonnie and Clyde either robbed the Ponder State Bank, or attempted to rob it, only to discover it had gone broke the week before. However this is not listed in the Barrow Gang's activities. The robbery in question may have been committed by the less famous but more successful Eddie Bentz."
Truth or legend, it was a fun discovery. The owner also invited us inside to snap a few photos.
