May 5, 2009 - "Wildflower Center Architecture " - The architecture of the Wildflower Center tracks the history of Texas. Photographed here are the graceful stone arched walls supporting an aqueduct. The aqueduct leads back to the limestone cistern located by the entrance to the Wildlife Center. Rain water collected here is captured off the galvanized metal roofs of buildings throughout the center.
The limestone of the cistern demonstrates the careful craftsmanship of the German farmers who settled in Central Texas.
